Today (Thursday), the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Islamabad to sight the Shawwal moon. The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that the meeting would take place at the ministry's headquarters and would be chaired by Ruet-e-Halal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The zonal committees will also hold meetings in designated locations across the country. According to Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council Secretary General Khalid Aijaz, the crescent marking the beginning of Shawwal will not be sighted on April 20. He explained that the new moon will be born at 9:13 am on that day, and its age will be less than 10 hours, making it impossible to spot. Thus, any testimony received on April 20 will be false, and Ramadan will last for 30 days, with the 1st Shawwal falling on April 22. The federal government has approved a five-day Eid holiday from April 21 to April 25.
