Peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.
In 1988, when we were studying in the ninth grade, at that time the school uniform consisted of camel-colored pants, a shirt, and white shoes.
The headmaster was very strict about uniforms, so all the students would come to school wearing the uniform, except for two orphans who were poor.
One day, during the morning assembly, a student named Bakho Mell stood in the line of the assembly without wearing the uniform. As soon as the headmaster noticed him, he angrily grabbed Bakho Mell by the collar and took him outside. Seeing the anger of the headmaster, Bakho Mell loudly said,
"Sir, please listen to me......listen to me.... My father is a poor man. Where will he get the uniform and shoes for me?"
"Don't punish me, I won't come to school from tomorrow."
Headmaster Master Ghulam Haider Khokhar let him go and, standing on the stage, addressed all the students, saying that Bakho Mall would come to class after the assembly. He asked all of us to give the pocket money we had received to Bakho Mall so that he could buy a uniform.
"I usually get eight annas as pocket money. I thought I won't eat a samosa today, I will give it to Bakho Mell."
"We had just sat in the class when the class teacher, Master Faqir Muhammad Hayat Hasbani, came into the class. After a while, Bakho Mell also took permission from the teacher and entered our class."
"He had a few notes of one rupee and some coins in his hand, which he had probably collected from his class."
"Master Faqir Muhammad Hayat Hasbani was very angry. He told all of us that no one would give him any money, and looking at Bakho Mell in anger, he said, 'You don't drown, you keep begging for alms wherever you go.'"
"Will you beg for alms your whole life in the misery of poverty?"
"Go back to your class and bring back the money you took from others, and I will give you the uniform."
"On the instruction of the teacher, Bakho Mell went back to his class and returned after returning the money to everyone."
"Master Faqir Muhammad Hayat Hasbani asked him what work he could do in the evening."
"Bakho Mall replied, 'My father is a cobbler. I can do shoe polishing and shoe repair, but I don't have money to buy the supplies.'"
"The teacher asked, 'How much money do you need?'"
"He said, 'I need one hundred and fifty rupees for a piece of leather, some brushes, polish, etc. All the supplies will be covered in that.'
"The teacher put his hand in his pocket and took out one hundred and fifty rupees. He handed the money to Bakho Mell and said, 'Here, take this. Buy all the supplies you need.'"
"Bakho Mell was overjoyed and expressed his gratitude to the teacher. He promised to work hard and use the money wisely."
"From that day onwards, Bakho Mell dedicated himself to his work. He diligently polished shoes and repaired them with skill and precision."
"With his earnings, Bakho Mell was able to support his family and also save some money for his education."
"Years passed, and Bakho Mell's dedication and hard work paid off. He completed his education and became a successful businessman, owning a shoe store of his own."
"He never forgot the kindness and generosity shown to him by the headmaster and teacher. He often visited the school, sharing his success story with the students and inspiring them to work hard and overcome any challenges they faced."
"Bakho Mell's story became an inspiration for many students, teaching them the value of perseverance, gratitude, and compassion."
"And so, the tale of Bakho Mell serves as a reminder that a small act of kindness can have a profound impact on someone's life, shaping their future and instilling hope in their hearts."
